Fruit and vegetable sector strategy<\/h1>\n

Ejea de los Caballeros is committed to strengthening the cultivation of fruit, vegetables, fruit trees and the production of woody plants in order to pluralise local agriculture and increase the community\u2019s opportunities.<\/p>\n

SOFEJEA helps with this strategy to regenerate the fruit and vegetable sector and works alongside private initiatives to facilitate collaboration with CITA, EEAD and other centres to transfer agricultural knowledge.<\/p>\n

For example, by joining forces with agricultural cooperation projects that aim to introduce peas and green beans to the irrigated crops.<\/p>\n

In addition, Ejea de los Caballeros Town Council actively helps by means of its agricultural heritage and by renewing the irrigation systems to make them available to the innovative fruit and vegetable projects.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, it supports farmer training and contributes to the secondary school IES Reyes Cat\u00f3licos de Ejea de los Caballeros offering vocational training in agricultural production.<\/p>\n

This strategy to reactivate the fruit and vegetable sector includes the regeneration of the indigenous biodiversity, the generation of a local brand, a sustainable agricultural approach, with a particular focus on organic agriculture, innovation as the guiding principle and direct or semi-direct sale to the consumer through local channels.<\/p>\n

It is with this purpose that SOFEJEA, together with Adefo Cinco Villas, coordinator of the programme Pon Arag\u00f3n en tu Mesa [Put Aragon on your Table] and the La Despensa de las Cinco Villas [Pantry of the Cinco Villas region] website, contributes to raise awareness of local agri-food producers.<\/p>\n

Ejea de los Caballeros es uno de los municipios m\u00e1s importantes de Arag\u00f3n. Cuenta con un rico patrimonio art\u00edstico y natural as\u00ed como una larga tradici\u00f3n cultural y festiva adem\u00e1s de una actividad econ\u00f3mica muy din\u00e1mica.<\/h3>\r\nLa ciudad conjuga un casco hist\u00f3rico con encanto y un moderno Ensanche. Ejea de los Caballeros dispone de numerosos equipamientos culturales y deportivos. Gran cantidad de zonas verdes y una buena red de parques urbanos.\r\n\r\nLa econom\u00eda del municipio tiene su base en el complejo agroalimentario junto con la industria de maquinaria agr\u00edcola, sobre la que se ha desarrollado un tejido industrial cada vez m\u00e1s diversificado.\r\n\r\nEjea de los Caballeros, ofrece una extensa oferta de servicios comerciales, sanitarios, financieros, educativos o tur\u00edsticos entre otros y fue distinguida por el Gobierno de Espa\u00f1a como \u201cCiudad de la Ciencia y la Innovaci\u00f3n\u201d por su apuesta decidida y constante por la I+D+i.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\r\n
