Agro ODS 2030
At SOFEJEA, we are aware that it is essential to promote sustainable livestock farming and agriculture.
And this has to be compatible with the resources we have. After all, without natural resources in optimal conditions of conservation and maintenance, we will never be able to ensure agricultural production that can be sustained over time.
It must be sustainable because the natural resources of a territory are an assurance not just for the people who live and make a living from agriculture and livestock farming but also for everyone else and the new generations.
The agri-food challenge is the integration of the rational use of resources, the optimisation of production and the reduction of waste. The future of the sector needs more research and innovation to achieve sustainable and comprehensive development.
The local pig sector has an opportunity to grow through the circular economy, which encompasses all of the actors composing its value chain (food, artificial reproduction, health, transformation and so on).
In addition, it can help to broaden the vision of companies by developing new products (slurry and waste), lines of business (biogas, oils, fertilisers, compost, and so on) aside from contributing to environmental sustainability.
We are working on a paradigm to view Ejea as an Agricultural City, where urban spaces for citizens are harmoniously combined, based on quality of life and a territorial context conducive to economic activities, based on thousands of agricultural hectares and the technology and business parks.
This Agricultural City concept is based on sustainability across three spheres: social, environmental and economic.
